My Timelapse of Comet 3I/Atlas gets 1.8 Million views
This timelapse was taken July 27, 2025 when comet 3I/Atlas was over 268 million miles from Earth. I believe this to be the first timelapse of comet 3I/Atlas
To capture this image I used a 0.5m PlaneWave telescope in the Utah desert and operated it remotely. As of today it has 1.8M views on Reddit. The comet was more than 268 million miles from Earth and much dimmer (mag 17.3) even than Pluto appears or 25,000 time dimmer that than dimmest start the unaided human eye can see. There have been other timelaspes by NASA and others since then, but I believe this to be the first published timelapse of the comet.
